Established in 1991, The Kuala Lumpur Bird Park is "The World's Largest Covered Bird Park" or "The World's largest Free Flight Aviary" which is located only 10 minutes drive away from the city centre of Kuala Lumpur.
KL Bird Park is different from any other bird parks because of the concept of free-flight. Visitors will have an exciting experience of watching colorful and melodic birds perching and flying about freely while relaxing in a natural and beautifully landscaped surrounding.
These birds have been breed naturally and therefore, they have been adapted well to this surrounding. They use sources such as the fallen leaves, branches and twigs as their nesting material to build their nests. They care for their babies until they grow up and the cycle continues year after year.
Therefore, this concept of free-flight not only provide the patrons of the park to experience the close similarity of life in the tropical rainforest, but it is also perhaps the best way to ensure the survival and species continuity of these birds.
The KL Bird Park houses more than 3,000 birds and 200 species from all over the world. Birds and nature lovers can have a wonderful day watching colorful sights and melodic sound of birds perching and winging about freely while enjoying the natural and beautifully landscaped surroundings. Sometimes you'll be surprised to come across miniature gardens, pools and water cascades, bridges, flowering plants and bird - feeding stations.
