Pura Ulun Danu Beratan or Lake Bratan’s temple or Pura Bratan or known as Floating Temple, is one of the most mesmerizing temples in Bali. It is a major Shaivite water temple on Bali, Indonesia. The temple complex is located on the shores of Lake Bratan in the mountains near Bedugul.

Built in 1633, this temple is used for the offering ceremony to the Balinese water, lake and river goddess Dewi Danu. The 11-storey plunge Meru in the complex is dedicated to Shiva and his consort Parvathi. This Pura Ulun Danu Bratan also featured in 50,000-rupiah banknote. â€‹The history of the Ulun Danu temple can be traced back to the rise of the Mengwi kingdom. The ‘floating’ temple complex is comprised of four groups of shrines, including the prominent Lingga Petak shrine to its east. There are four gates facing each of the four points of the compass.
