Kuala Lumpur Tower is the main attraction of Kuala Lumpur that stands atop Bukit Nanas or Pineapple Hills. It is 421 meters and 95 meters above sea level, it ranks fourth amongst the tallest telecommunications and broadcasting tower in the world. KL Tower is also one of the most enduring images a visitor to KL will come across.
This tower was constructed over a period of four years and completed in May 1996. KL Tower is designed to withstand wind pressure of up to 90mph. The KL Tower was constructed with Arabic scripts, Islamic tiles, classic Islamic floral and abstract motifs and soothing color combinations which display the heritage of Islam in Malaysia.
When you want to walk up the hill, you will be surrounded by the green grasses and forest of the Bukit Nanas Forest – the only oldest gazette forest reserve in the country. Flora and fauna indigenous to tropical climates. As a tourist, I would advise you to go up the hill with the "shuttle service" or taxi and to walk down the on your way back.
Visitors can get a bird’s eye view of the city from the observation deck. The view is fantastic. You will have a much better view than at the PETRONAS Towers because you're much higher now. You can see clearly now the Genting Highlands, the Klang Valley and other buildings of Kuala Lumpur. The view form the tower is more breathtaking. There are also some telescopes that can be used by visitor for free. Free audio tours are available at the observation deck.
The main public area and entrance is at the upper ground level. At this level there are 9 shops, a fast food restaurant, a mini-theatre, which shows a documentary on the construction of the tower (every 15 minutes) and an open-air amphitheatre (222 seats). There are also public toilets.
