Most of the homes in Kampung Morten have traditional architectural design and also known as one of Malaysian national heritage site. This village is located at next to the Melaka River. One of the home in Kampung Mortenhave won several awards for best decorated traditional house in Melaka. Haji Rahim’s house is the centre of attraction in Kampung Morten because of the 200 years old “gong” from his ancestors. With full of enthusiasm, Haji Rahim will give you a lot of information about his father who was the first Malay student who attended the British school and also about his old manuscripts and documents.
It was named after J.F. Morten, who was the Commissioner of Land in the early 1920's during the early history of the village. Traditional "kampung houses" in the Melaka architectural style can be seen with attractive color schemes. These houses have been the main attraction for the tourists for its unique design. Also located here is a living museum called Villa Sentosa, a "living museum" of the rural way of life in the close vicinity of the town center
