Melawati Hill is positioned in Kuala Selangor, a coastal town that is about 50km north of Klang and an hour’s drive from Shah Alam. According to historical records, Melawati Hill play an important role in Selangor history as it was conquered by the Dutch from the hands of Sultan Ibrahim on July 1784. A year later, exactly on 28th January 1785, Sultan Ibrahim with the help of his brother, Dato’ Penggawa Permatang Mahabijaya (Penggawa Tua) and along with Bendahara Abd. Majid Pahang, drove out the Dutch from Melawati Hill. The attack which began after the evening prayers succeeded before sunrise. Nowadays, Melawati Hill or “Bukit Melawati” serves as tourist attraction and it features several hot spot such as a Bed Rock, a place for viewing the ‘new moon’, Dutch Hill, Virgin’s Burial, Royal Burial Ground, Seven Wells, Melawati Mount, Penggawa (Chief) Cannon, Melawati Fort, The Hundred Steps and Poisoned Well.
