Gua Tempurung or Tempurung Cave is located in Gopeng, about 24 kilometers south of the capital city of Ipoh in Perak. It is one of the most majestic white marble and limestone towers in Malaysia and probably the largest natural limestone structure in Malaysia.

The cave forms a tunnel of wondrous and endless rock formations that runs from east to west nearly 2 kilometer in length.

There are lighting and platforms that enable you to walk with ease. These caves are actually a breathtaking gallery of stalagmites (structure that grows from the ground upwards) and stalactites (structure that grows from the top of the cave) and other amazing rock formations which are superb speleogical wonders found only in the part of the world.

This cave is easy to explore. The tunnel of the cave runs from east to the west covering a distance of about 2 km under the limestone hills known as Gunung Tempurung and Gunung Gajah.It comprises of five huge domes with ceilings resembling coconut shells. Each of these domes has different calcium formations and marble that exists in different temperature and water level.

Getting there
If you are driving from Kuala Lumpur or Penang, head for PLUS North South Highway and exit at Gopeng Interchange. Follow the signboard towards Kampar town using the Federal Route 1. After travelling for about 5km, you will see a signage that directs you to Gua Tempurung. Turn left and go straight for about 2km and you will reach Tempurung Cave.
