Masjid Negeri Sultan Abu Bakar is Johor’s state mosque and also the most beautiful mosque in Malaysia. It is located on Jalan Abu Bakar, Johor Bahru, and Johor.

The mosque was constructed based on Moorish style and some Malay influence under the direction of Sultan Abu Bakar in the year between 1892 and 1900.

The mosque is strategically located overlooking the straits of Tebrau and neighboring Singapore. Nested on top of a hill, the compounds of Sultan Abu Bakar mosque offers a wonderful elevated view of Singapore.

The mosque is square in shape and it has blue roofing and black tipped minarets grab the attention of many motorists plying Japan Skudai. Its trims, pillars and arches are very detailed and obvious from the European influences.

Around 3000 worshippers can be accommodated in the mosque at any one time. Many religious and social activities are held in Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque including sermons, Quran lessons and Muslim wedding solemnizations.

Although non-Muslims are not permitted into the mosque, visitors are welcomed to explore the compounds of the mosque. It’s unique architecture and idyllic surroundings make it a must visit location for engineering enthusiasts as well as photographers.
