Samgyeopsal is a popular Korean pork dish. Pork is usually inexpensive in Korea, compared to the more pricey beef, which allows this dish to be a common meal for both eating out and eating at home. The literal translation of samgyeopsal is “three layer flesh”.Samgyeopsal consists of thick, fatty slices of pork belly meat. Samgyeopsal is usually neither seasoned nor marinated and is cooked at the table on a grill. Samgyeopsal is usually eaten with lettuce (sangchu ìƒì¶”) and sliced raw garlic. This dish is also served with at least two different dipping sauces - ssamjang (쌈장) and gireumjang (기름장).
