One of the most unique caves in Malaysia, Gua Kelam ( Kelam Cave) refers to a 370 meters long limestone cave at the small town of Kaki Bukit or foot hill. Located about 33 kilometers north of Kangar, Gua Kelam Recreational Park is famous for its enthralling ‘cave walk’ where one can enter from one end of the cave and come out at a different location. Access to the cave is by way of an eight-foot wide suspension bridge. This bridge links Kaki Bukit to the Wan Tangga Valley, a valley on the opposite end of Gua Kelam. The uniqueness of approach, as well as the experience of walking along the bridge, makes a visit to this place an intriguing and adventurous experience.

A vast stream flows in the limestone range near Kaki Bukit for about a quarter of a mile long. As in other limestone areas, the stream has built a long cavern over the centuries. This physiographic phenomenon was enlarged throughout the length of the underground stream in 1935 by a resident Englishman who saw it as an awe-inspiring way of transporting tin ore from a mine located near the stream entrance through the underground cavern.

Nowadays, locals as well as foreign tourists make their way through the cave via a brightly lit wooden walkway inside the cave. Yet, one can still find bits and pieces of the tin mine process within the cave while experience the mystery of a cave that was once the home of Stone Age men.
